Description

John A. Logan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in the Emergency Medical Services program to begin fall 2018.

Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May) and are required to teach a minimum of 15 credit hours and serve eight office hours per week for student consultation in fall and spring semesters. Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester.

Position Description and Duties: The Emergency Medical Services program is part of the College’s Career and Technical Education programs and leads to an Associate in Applied Science Degree. Responsibilities and duties of the position include: teaching required courses at a variety of times including evenings to meet program needs, developing instructional resources for online learning, curriculum development, coordinating the program, seeking program accreditation, conducting program review, chairing an advisory committee, seeking and maintaining clinical site affiliations, maintaining student records and instructional lab, submitting grades, reports, and materials within requested timelines, assisting in the hiring of term faculty for the program, and student advising for the program. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to post and maintain office hours, recruit students to the program, participate fully in departmental duties, institutional committees, and activities as assigned. The candidate is expected to represent the College credibly with respect to any of its activities, and observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the College.

Qualifications

Require's a Bachelor’s degree or higher in emergency medical services, public safety, law enforcement, environmental health, healthcare, or related field; minimum of three years’ field experience as a paramedic; current state of Illinois paramedic license (or reciprocity within 3 months); current state of Illinois EMS Lead Instructor license (or reciprocity within 3 months).  EMS instruction and program coordination experience; post-secondary level teaching experience; certification in CPR, ACLS PALS, and ITLS or PHTLS is preferred.

Salary

The College is affiliated with NEA/IEA.  Starting salary is determined by educational level and teaching experience per contract salary schedule, and opportunities exist for overload and summer teaching.  The College provides an excellent fringe benefit package.
