Description

John A. Logan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in the Criminal Justice program to begin fall 2017.  

Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May) and are required to teach a minimum of 15 credit hours and serve eight office hours per week for student consultation in fall and spring semesters. Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester. 

This position will teach a wide variety of criminal justice courses that are scheduled in the day, evening, weekends, and online. Additionally, the faculty will coordinate and supervise criminal justice internships, participate and/or facilitate serve learning programs, and serve as a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. 

Instructional responsibilities also include:  course development, updating and submission of course syllabi in required format, assessment of student outcomes, conducting program review, development of resources for instruction, including those for online learning, and timely submission of student grades and progress.  Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to post and maintain office hours, recruit students to the program, participate fully in departmental duties, institutional committees, and activities as assigned.  The candidate is also expected to represent the College credibly with respect to any of its activities, and observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the College. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice, or related field.  A master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice, or related field   is preferred.

Experience Requirements:  Three years of experience within the criminal justice field. More than three years of experience in the criminal justice field, and teaching experience is preferred.

 

Salary

Starting salary is determined by educational level and teaching experience as per contract salary schedule, and opportunities exist for overload and summer teaching.
