Full-Time Faculty; Temporary

Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May) and are required to teach a minimum of 15 credit hours and serve eight office hours per week for student consultation in fall and spring semesters. Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester.  

This position will teach a wide variety of lecture and/or laboratory courses within the Heating and Air program. Expertise in the following areas will be necessary: residential heating and air, commercial refrigeration, load calculations and estimations, duct sizing, sheet metal fabrication, building science, electrical systems, residential electrical wiring, power distribution and motors, HVAC trouble-shooting, installation, and coordination.  

Other duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: serve as co-club advisor for the Heating and Air student chapter; serve as academic advisor for the Heating and Air program; work directly with local Habitat for Humanity chapters and other not-for-profit organizations to perform full installation and/or service and repair of HVAC systems; regularly meet with the Heating and Air Advisory Committee; participate in campus activities such as an annual Discovery Day, student tours, and judging in a regional FFA competition held on campus; maintain the laboratories and program equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition; maintain tools and supplies in the lab to minimize loss, theft, or breakage of equipment; and instruct all students in appropriate safety rules and safe work procedures; and enforce all safety rules in the lab.    

Instructional responsibilities also include:  course development, updating and submission of course syllabi in required format, assessment of student outcomes, conducting program review, development of resources for instruction, including those for online learning, and timely submission of student grades and progress.  Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to post and maintain office hours, recruit students to the program, participate fully in departmental duties, institutional committees, and activities as assigned.  The candidate is also expected to represent the College credibly with respect to any of its activities, and observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the College. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Require's an Associate in Applied Science in Heating and Air Conditioning or related field and EPA section 608 certification.  Five years’ experience in the HVAC field including installation and service, sheet metal fabrication, and layout.  Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology or closely related field; more than five years’ experience in the HVAC field including installation and service, sheet metal fabrication, and layout and college teaching experience is preferred. 

Salary

Salary is determined by educational level and teaching experience as per contract salary schedule.
