Full-Time; Non-Teaching Professioanal; Grade 8

Duties and Responsibilities: General financial services and accounting functions (see below):

  • Accounts Receivable: review and ensure proper timing and application of revenue recognition rules
  • Accounts Payable: review all disbursements for College and Foundation, 1099-M preparation / filing
  • Cash Management: prepare cash flow projections, monitor cash positions, monitor safekeeping limits, transfer funds, perform drawdowns from GAPS G5 system, and review bank reconciliations
  • Balance Sheet Management: review trial balance and prepare monthly financial reports for the Board
  • Closeout of College Records: prepare and review journal entries, accruals, oversee monthly and year-end closeout of financial records, close accounts to fund balances, and roll forward beginning balances
  • JALC Foundation: review Foundation accounting on a quarterly and year-end basis, review 990 tax form
  • Internal Controls: implement controls and ensure College assets are adequately safeguarded
  • Financial Reporting: ensure prepared in accordance with policies and with general accounting practices
  • Grant Billing: provide review, monitor reimbursement cycles, and prepare schedule of federal awards
  • Fixed Assets: maintain module in College’s ERP system and perform depreciation functions
  • Construction Project Accounting: track construction expenses by funding source and by project
  • Internal Audit Procedures: develop and implement to ensure continued successful financial audits
  • Audit: work with external auditors to facilitate annual examination of financial records, workpapers
  • Debt Management: assist with issuance and track repayment schedules on existing bonds or certificates
  • Supervision/Evaluation: Associate Director of Revenue, Grant Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable Clerk
  • Analysis: prepare comparative financial and statistical information as requested
  • Indirect Cost Rate: assist with preparation of application for indirect rate on grant agreements
  • Request for Proposals: assist with RFP processes as needed such as for Banking and Audit proposals
  • Other Reporting: Bond Arbitrage, Industrial Appraisal, HLC Financial Ratios, EZ Audit, Federal Clearinghouse, IPEDS data system report required to participate in federal financial aid programs
  • CPA designation must be kept current; serve on College committees as assigned; other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Require's a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation; four years of acceptable accounting experience, along with general supervisory skills; Master’s degree in business administration; accounting experience in a public organization using fund accounting is preferred.

Salary

$63,704 - $79,630 (salary commensurate with education and experience per salary schedule)
