Patrols campus and enforces laws of the State of Illinois and policies of John A. Logan College to provide a safe environment for students, employees, and visitors; regularly patrols campus parking lots to deter criminal activity and disturbances; responds to reported situations, including but not limited to, alarms, accidents, injuries, crimes, and disturbances to complete investigations and file reports; enforces College policies and rules; follows College procedures regarding student discipline; responds to routine requests for service and assistance from faculty, staff, students, and visitors; provides traffic direction and control on and around campus to facilitate the safe flow of traffic and/or pedestrians through campus; monitor, secure, and protect College properties; actively work to identify, report, and mitigate any health or safety hazards and report any risk management concerns to supervisor; and other duties as assigned.


Requires a high school diploma or GED; 30 hours successful completion of college credit at an accredited higher educational institution. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and must be able to obtain an Illinois FOID card. Preferred qualifications include: associate degree in related field; completion of Illinois Basic Police Academy Training, full or part-time.
