All students have three accounts that are automatically created soon after they enroll at the college.

- You can register for, as well as add or drop classes.
- You can find important information and many helpful links.
- You can explore the college’s clubs, activities, and so much more.
You can log into MyJALC with your Volmail address and password. Log into MyJALC here: my.jalc.edu
Volmail is your student email account. This is how your instructors will communicate with you via email, so make sure that you check it regularly. Log into Volmail here.

Desire2Learn is used for online courses as well as for supplemental material and interaction for many traditional classes. You will need to be able to access Desire2Learn, and depending on the class you're taking, you may need to check it on a regular basis. Log into Desire2Learn (D2L) here.
JALCtext is the one account that you must set up yourself, as it is not automatically created. JALCtext is a service that sends a text to your phone in case of an emergency, or campus closure. You can also elect to receive texts pertaining to other college news or events of your choosing. All students should set up a JALCtext account. Even if you don’t have a cell phone, JALCtext can send you emails instead. To sign up for JALCtext click here.
If your accounts stop working after you have changed your name, please contact the Admissions office in Room C200 (phone (618) 985-3741, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Your Volmail, MyJALC and Desire2Learn (D2L) accounts will not create unless you register for classes first. After you register for classes your accounts will take two business days to create.
Desire2Learn (D2L), Volmail and MyJALC all use the same username and password:
Username/Email: First initial of first name; last name; last 4 digits of student ID; @volmail.jalc.edu
For Example: A student named John A Logan, with a student ID number of 99991234, would have the email/username: email@example.com
If you applied to the college after April 15th, 2016 your Volmail address and unique password were sent to your primary email address (i.e. gmail, msn, yahoo, etc.). If you didn’t receive this email, please check your junk mail folder.
If you applied to the college prior to April 15th, 2016, your initial password is an 8 digit number comprised of the 2 digits for the day of the month you were born, two digits for the month you were born, and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. Example: Password: 30126789 (DDMMSSSS)
For Example: The student John A Logan, born on December 30th, with the social security number 999-99- 6789 would have the password: 30126789
