CARTERVILLE – A total of 40 Associate Degree Nursing graduates were recognized at the annual pinning ceremony Friday night at the Donald L. Brewer Gymnasium and Convocation Center on the John A. Logan College campus.

Included in the ceremony were remarks from JALC President, Dr. Mike Dreith; department director Marilyn Falaster; and ADN grad and class speaker, Mara Fienhold.

Additionally, graduates Kaylee Mezo and Lanita Ames sang both the “National Anthem” and “Best Days of Our Life.”

The Illinois Army National Guard, representing the 2nd Battalion, 130th Infrantry in Marion, presented the colors; Pastor Steven McKeown with Christian Life Center in Herrin delivered the invocation and Head Elder Lester Loucks with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Du Quoin delivered the benediction.

Falaster introduced each graduate and nursing department staffers assisted in the pinning. Instructors include: Ann Barnstable, Donna Farris, Janet Followell, Heather Hampson, Pay Hays, Julie Horecker, Mikeal Kos, Lisa Majewski, Jodie Mays and Barbara Patchett.

It was also Patchett who presented a brief slide show of a medical mission trip to Liberia, Africa in which three graduates, Johnna Barter, Erica Whitledge and Kathryn Wyant participated.

The ceremony concluded with a candle lighting and recitation of the Florence Nightingale Pledge.
