MURRAY, KY. - The John A. Logan College men's golf team placed ninth Tuesday at the Murray State University fall invitational held at Miller Memorial Golf Course. 

The Volunteers shot a combined score of 895, which included rounds of 311 and 296 Monday and a more palatable 288 Tuesday.

Alabama State won the tourney with a score of 859. Wright State was second at 865 followed by the host Racers (869), UT-Martin (872), Eastern Kentucky (874), Tennessee State (885), Missouri Baptist (885), and Morehead State (889).

The Vols, who started the day at the bottom of the pack, finished ahead of Northern Kentucky (897), Murray State's "B" squad (899), Northern Kentucky's "B" squad (912) and Christian Brothers (913).

Logan was the only two-year school competing.

Top individual performer for the Vols was sophomore Christian Seaton of Mount Carmel. He was tied for 16th wth a three-round total of 218, or 16 strokes back of the leader.

Freshman teammates Chris Tyminski of Nashville, Tenn. and Chase Witsman of Mount Carmel tied for 32nd with a combined score of 224.

Freshman Neal Northcott of Carmi turned in a total score of 231, which included a Monday round of 72 to tie for 53rd.

Sophomore Trey Brinker of Evansville carded a 237 and tied for 64th.
