CENTRALIA – The John A. Logan College women’s golf team placed first at a triangular meet held late last month at Greenview Golf Course in Centralia as hosted by Kaskaskia College.

The Volunteers turned in a one-day round of 347, easily outdistancing the Blue Angels (390). Lincoln College was third at 426.

Medalist for the tournament was JALC sophomore Kirsten Faulkner of Metropolis with an 80. Vols’ freshman Adrian Brown of Carterville earned second place with an 85. Freshman Reagan Keepes of Mount Carmel tied for fourth with a 90. Freshman Payton Choate of Campbell Hill tied for sixth at 92 and sophomore Chelsea Capel of Marion was 10th at 101.

“Overall, the girls played fairly well,” said Logan head coach Bill Glenn. “I know we are capable of doing much better, but the fall season is a good time to work on things. We want to save our best golf for the spring…when it counts.”

Glenn praised the play of Faulkner.

“I’ve been waiting for Kirsten to play a round like this,” he said. “I know she has the talent. It’s just a matter of consistency.”
