HERRIN – The John A. Logan College softball team raised money for team expenditures Saturday at the third annual bocce tournament held at the HerrinFesta Italiana Bocce Complex.
Teams were mostly comprised of players and their families, along with the college’s Criminal Justice Depatment students.
“We appreciate the nice turnout considering it was a very busy weekend in Southern Illinois,” said Vols head softball coach Bruce Jilek. “We had to contend with SIU’s Homecoming, for example. But, everyone who attended had a good time, even newcomers to the game.”
Jilek said bocce is a game that anyone of any age or skill level can play.
“We would like to thank the Herrin Civic Center and its director, Carl Ortale, along with Cris Trapani of Novacom, for their contributions to the event,” he said. “In addition, we thank all the sponsors and participants who make our event a successful one.”
