VINCENNES, IND. - Four players hit for double figures as John A. Logan College cruised past St. Clair County, Mich. Saturday, 71-48.

Freshman guard Devontavius Payne tallied 14 to pace the offense. Sophomore Jordan Martin followed with 13. Lamont Walker collected 12 and Bobby Mannie added 10.

Connor Wheeler tacked on seven points. Tamas Bruce, Ranell Crossland and Justin Lukens netted four apiece. Martavian Payne was held to three points.

Bruce was a beast on the defensive end, grabbing 13 rebounds and recording six blocked shots. Mannie accounted for 10 rebounds. The totals were career bests for each.

The Vols led 35-28 at the half and gradually pulled away over the final 20 minutes.

"I thought we did a good job defensively," said Logan head coach Kyle Smithpeters. "Anytime you hold a college team under 50 points for a game, you are doing some things right. I thought our effort was good tonight."

Now 6-1, the Vols open Great Rivers Athletic Conference play at 3 p.m. Saturday in Belleville against Southwestetn Illinois.
