CARTERVILLE – A strong rightside hitter is the latest recruit to sign on with the John A. Logan College volleyball team for next fall. Annie Lietz of Nashville is a River to River All-Conference and All-South performer.
The 5-foot-11 senior joins Woodlawn middle hitter, Annie Wehrheim, as the college’s first two off-season recruits.
“Annie Lietz is a great addition to our program,” said Vols head coach Bill Burnside. “She is a very consistent player, who can contribute in a lot of areas. She is a solid hitter, especially from the right side. She blocks well and is also a good passer.”
Burnside said he has seen Lietz play a number of times over the last two years and likes what she can bring to the team.
“I like Annie’s attitude and demeanor, as well as her talent on the floor. She is always positive and I am confident that she will make a quality impact with our team. I look forward to coaching her and helping her take her game to the next level.”
Lietz said signing with Logan was the right move for her to make.
“I am very excited to get to play for Coach Burnside and John A. Logan College,” she said. “It’s a great program and Coach is very good about making players stronger and improving their game. He is also well known for moving girls on (to a four-year school) after their two years at Logan. I think it’s going to be a great experience and a great team.”
