ROBINSON - In a high-scoring back-and-forth game, the John A. Logan College women's basketball team dropped a heart-breaker at Lincoln Trail College Wednesday, 77-72.

The Volunteers have now dropped seven straight games, falling to 2-6 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and 5-10 overall. Trail moved 3-4 in the league and 10-5 overall.

Logan head coach Marty Hawkins said his ballclub played fairly well.

"It was a tough one to lose, but the effort was there," he said. "We were in it right to the end."

The Vols were led offensively by sophomore Alison Webb's 14 points. Freshman Shelby Beussink dropped in 13 points and tied Webb for the team lead in rebounds with eight. Kalai Trice finished with 11 points and Sarah Bailey, who reinjured an ankle, added 10.

Logan hosts Shawnee at 1 p.m. Saturday.
