CENTRALIA - The John A. Logan College women's basketball team went on an 11-0 run to start the second half, but it wouldn't be enough Monday as the host Blue Angels of Kaskaskia rallied to beat the Vols, 75-66.
Logan falls to 5-7 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and 8-11 overall. The host team improved to 5-6 in the league and 10-12 overall.
The Vols' biggest lead was seven at 42-35 before guard Kierra Graves rallied the Blue Angels with 16 second-half points. She finished with 32 points, mostly on a series of driving lay-ins. Kyra Tucker follows with 21 points.
Logan converted 22-of-52 shots from the field, 6-of-14 from beyond the arc, and 16-of-22 free throws.
But defensively, there was no answer for Graves and Tucker.
"They're two outstanding players," said Logan head coach Marty Hawkins. "And as well as they played, we had our chances. I thought one of the keys was turnovers. We led most of the first half, but turned it over 13 times, which is why we trailed at the half (35-31)."
The Vols return home for a 5 p.m. game Wednesday against Olney.
