MESA, ARIZ. - The John A. Logan College women's golf team was unable to build on a strong showing Monday, turning in a team score 21 strokes higher in Tuesday's second round of the national tournament.

The Volunteers recorded an 18-hole total of 377 and fell from 10th place overall to 13th in the 15-team field.

None of the Vols scored better on Day 2. Sophomore Kirsten Faulkner of Metropolis, who was a solid 78 on Monday, followed up with a 91 on Tuesday and dropped from 14th place overall to 39th individually with a 36-hole total of 169. 

Freshman teammate, Adrian Brown of Carterville, slipped from an 81 to an 87 or 168 to move into a tie for 36th place.

Sophomore Chelsea Capel of Marion was nearly as good Tuesday as she was Monday, carding a 90 for a two-day total of 178, placing her in a tie for 58th place.

Freshman Payton Choate matched her Monday score of 109 for a two-day count of 218. She stands in 99th place.

The Rend Lake Warriors were led by Ali Christian's 83. She is at 164 overall and is in 25th place.

Ashley Sexton followed with an 85 (176 overall) and is tied for 50th. Madison Burgett is tied for 63rd at 180 after shooting a 92 on Tuesday. 

Kaylyn Fuhrhop is tied for 65th with a 181 after her round of 92 and Katie Garver is in 83rd place after recording a 97. She is at 197 overall.

Third-round action gets under way Wednesday morning.
