CARTERVILLE – An open house with refreshments was held today in Room C143 by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to assist both new and continuing students with the start of the fall semester set for Wednesday.
“We are here to provide information about our services for those who are curious,” said Toyin Fox, department director. “This is an opportunity for us to reach out, connect, and assist students in navigating our campus.”
Fox said the Black Student Association is also hosting a “New Student Welcome” event from 4-to-6 p.m. this Friday in the McCollum Room, formerly known as the Terrace Dining Room.
“Our expectation is that this event serves as a forum for new students to network with fellow students and continuing students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the JALC community to learn about unique opportunities and resources that support student success here at the college.”
Fox said her department is encouraging students to take advantage of this opportunity to connect and make for a successful transition to college life.
"We are a diverse learning and teaching community committed to improving individual life and society through high-quality, accessible educational programs and engaged learning opportunities."
