CARTERVILLE – John A. Logan College head baseball coach Jerry Halstead and assistant, Kyle Surprenant, are hosting a celebration for former players and their families, who remain members of the Logan baseball family.

The two-day extravaganza runs Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17. There will be a golf outing on Friday beginning at 1:30 at Crab Orchard Golf Club in Carterville. Cost is $30 per player.

On Saturday, there will be a cookout held at the baseball field beginning at 12:30. Former players and families are welcome to take batting practice with the current players. There will also be a bounce house and other games for children.

The Volunteers have made two National Junior College Athletic Association World Series appearances (1992 and 2002) and have captured 10 Great Rivers Athletic Conference and eight Region 24 championships in the 30-plus years of Halstead’s tenure.
