INA - The John  A. Logan  College volleyball team added two more match victories to its season total Saturday, defeating Lewis & Clark in four sets (25-13, 25-9, 20-25, 25-21), and then the host, Rend Lake Warriors, also in four sets (22-25, 25-16, 25-9, 25-21).

Freshman middle hitter Cheyenne Pitchford of Sesser enjoyed a big day for the Vols, recording 18 kills on the day with 15 blocks.

Also stepping up her game was freshman hitter Annie Lietz of Nashville, who led the team in kills with 19, while adding 15 digs on defense.

Sophomore outside hitter Carly Callahan of Carterville had another solid performance, contributing 15 kills and 23 digs.

Freshman Annie Wehrheim played in only one match and was tops in kills with 13.

Freshman defensive specialist Ali Amici led in digs with 32, while sophomore setter Christy Hayden of Benton was the leader in assists with 36 and added a team-best five service aces.

"I thought we played very well for extended periods today," said Logan head coach Bill Burnside. "The offense was executing the full playbook. Defensively, we blocked better than we have all season."

Burnside said he was also able to get some reserves additional playing time, which he said, is always a positive.

"I especially liked the way Annie Lietz played today when Annie Wehrheim left with an injury. She had her highest kill total (19) of the season," Burnside said.

Now 13-5 overall, the Vols return home at 6:30 Wednesday to host Lincoln Trail in a Great Rivers Athletic Conference match.
