BELLEVILLE - Five players reached double figures Tuesday as the John A. Logan College women's basketball team rolled to a 96-75 non-conference win over Lindenwold-Belleville University.

The Volunteers move to 11-0 on the season and return to action at 4 p.m. Saturday at Vincennes University in a Region 24 match.

Freshman forward Kaili Bacon continued her scoring assault this season with 27 points to pace the Vols' offense.

Tiaunna Watkins followed with 14 points. Haley Darnell dropped in 12. Ariel Crump notched 11 and Cheyenne Abbadusky added 10.

Gabby Sanders checked in with seven points. Johnna Hines hit for five. McKena Miller and Aliah Acker finished with four. Ternaecia Ashley had two.

Logan led at each quarter break: 26-15, 44-36, and 70-54.

Vols head coach Amanda Shelby said the victory was not one of her team's better efforts.

"We scored 96 points, but we pretty much left our defense at home. A win's a win, though. We'll take it and move on."

Shelby said she wasn't surprised to see a bit of a letdown after such an emotional win over Wabash Valley three days earlier.

"Pretty much everyone got playing time tonight, so that's a good thing," she said. "We just need to bring the intensity on Saturday against Vincennes because they're a very good ballclub."
