MATTOON - The John A. Logan College men's basketball team raced to a 55-33 halftime lead en route to a 97-74 Great Rivers Athletic Conference win over Lake Land in Mattoon Wednesday.
Sophomore Devontavius Payne gunned in 28 points to pace the Vols, who reached the 20-win mark against only three losses.


Payne drained six triples. Ranell Crossland followed with 21 points in one of his strongest performances of the season.


Jalen Perry added 14 points, all in the first half.


"We had fun tonight. That's all we talked about in practice this week and I think it showed in the way we performed In this game," said Vols head coach Kyle Smithpeters.

Logan improves to 11-2 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.


The Vols next play host to Wabash Valley at 3 p.m. Saturday. It is "Carbondale Day" at the college. All Carbondale residents get free admission to the game and all Carbondale students get a free popcorn and soda compliments of Banterra Bank.
