CARTERVILLE – Students and residents of Southern Illinois will have the opportunity to pursue part-and full-time job opportunities at the annual job fair hosted by John A. Logan College on Wednesday, March 23rd.

The event is set to run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Donald L. Brewer Gymnasium and Convocation Center.

According to Lisa Hudgens, Director of Career Services at the college, 83 area employers will attend the fair with several hundred patrons expected to participate.

“There’s going to be a wide variety of job opportunities,” Hudgens said. “We have everything from healthcare and manufacturing to computer services and law enforcement, and much, much more.”

Hudgens said it’s important to note that the fair is not designed for students only.

“It’s open to everyone,” she said. “The key is to come prepared. Dress appropriately, so that you will make a good impression with an employer and have a resume in hand. It’s not uncommon for one-on-one interviews to occur right there on the spot.”

Hudgens said she always enjoys hearing the success stories that can be attributed directly to the job fair.

“We do have plenty of those kinds of stories,” she said. “I can’t tell you how many times I have had employers tell me they hired someone at our fair and couldn’t be happier. That’s what the having the fair is all about – helping people find jobs.”

At the very least, Hudgens said, patrons can use the experience to build confidence and learn more about what the region has to offer.
