MARION - It wasn't the beginning they were hoping for Sunday, but the John A.. Logan College men's golfers find themselves only one stroke back of the lead at the annual spring invitational hosted by Logan at Kokopelli Golf Course in Marion.


The Vols shot a first round score of 310. Lewis and Clark is first at 309. Rend Lake is third at 330 and Lincoln College is fourth at 353.


Freshman Hunter York is leading scorer for Logan with a 74.  Freshman Nick Woolard follows at 76. Sophomore Neal Northcott is third at 78. Sophomore Kody Rendleman is fourth at 82 and sophomore Austin Grote is fifth at 85.


Playing as individuals, sophomore Daniel Corcho turned in a 79 and freshman Landon Vaughan followed with an 80.
Tourney action resumes at 8:30 today.
