CULLUM, ALA. - The John A. Logan College men's golf team is presently tied for fifth following two rounds of play Monday in the District 4 Tournament at Terri Tines Country Club in Alabama.

There are 10 teams in all competing for the District title. The top five advance to the national tournament in Texas.

Logan posted rounds of 306 and 293 for a combined score of 599. The Vols are tied with Central Alabama and Faulkner State.

Just two strokes ahead of them in third are Darten, Ga. and Wallace State.

Sophomore Kody Rendleman of Murphysboro had the best individual score for the Vols with rounds of 76 and 71 for a 147.

Freshman Nick Woolard followed at 149 (76/73). Sophomore Neal Northcott of Carmi checked in with a 151 (76/75).

Freshman Hunter York, recently named to the All-Region 24 team, notched a 172 (78/74) and sophomore Austin Grote of Hoyleton finished up at 156 (81/75).

"We just got off to a rough start," said Vols head coach Tom Ferris. "The course was tight and we didn't manage the course well early on. In the second round, we played much better. In fact, we had the second-best round of the day. We will need to come out Tuesday and play that final round of 18 the way we finished Monday's action if we want to qualify for Nationals."
