CARTERVILLE – Tiaunna Watkins scored a game-high 24 points to lead the John A. Logan College Lady Vols to an 89-33 win over an out-manned Greenville JV team.

Logan’s Watkins, the nation’s third leading scorer at 21.3 points per game, was 10-for-13 from the field, including 3-for-3 from three and 1-for-1 from the free-throw line. Makayla Campbell sizzled the nets for 19 points for the Lady Vols, including 5-for-9 from three, while her cousin Lyric Campbell had 12 points and 8 assists.

Logan, 6-3 on the season, shot 34- for-68 from the field, 10- for-22 from the three-point line and 11- for-14 from the line.

“We finally shot the ball the way we are capable of and that was refreshing,” said Amada Shelby, Logan coach. “I thought our defense was outstanding. We held them without a field goal in the first quarter and kept them from ever getting into a rhythm.

The Lady Vols will host Vincennes on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Lady Trailblazers are 10-2 and have been nationally ranked most of the season. They have five players who are 6-feet or taller including one player who is 6-5.
