College to Celebrate 50th Anniversary
December 21, 2016
John A. Logan College is turning 50 in 2017! To commemorate the anniversary we will highlight 50 members of our College family through the year. Honorees will include alumni, faculty, staff, board of trustee members and administrators who exemplify the excellence of John A. Logan College in its first fifty years.
Much has changed since the College first opened its doors in downtown Herrin. John A. Logan College has grown to become one of the top community colleges in the country with a beautiful state-of-the-art campus located in Carterville. Fifty years after its founding, the College remains a vital part of the Southern Illinois community. That being said, it is our hope that the entire community join us in celebrating the College’s golden anniversary.
Plans are currently underway for a homecoming celebration to be held on November 4, 2017, at the College. The event will include a special day of activities to welcome current and former members of the John A. Logan College family, as well as the College community. Details for the event will be announced later in the year.
College President Dr. Ron House is looking forward to the opportunity to celebrate all the College has accomplished in the past fifty years.
“John A. Logan College’s 50th Anniversary provides an exciting opportunity to reflect on our past, celebrate the present, and move forward with a renewed dedication to our community and student achievement. It is my hope that everyone will take part in the celebration by sharing your success story and participating in events throughout the year,” said House.
The John A. Logan College slogan was true fifty years ago and it is still true today…”Why would you go anywhere else?”
