Kyle Smithpeters Picks up 100th Win
January 12, 2017
Kyle Smithpeters picked up his 100th win as head coach Wednesday night as the John A. Logan College Volunteers defeated Lewis & Clark.
The major milestone was met with excitement by his players who mobbed him after the game when Asst. Coach Zach Carpenter presented him the game ball.
Smithpeters seemed to enjoy the celebration, but only briefly, as he told his team, “we’ve got to put this game behind us and look toward the next one.”
Smithpeters is in only his fifth season as head coach of the Vols. In his first year at Logan, 2012-2013, his team went 18-12; then 20-11 in 2013-2014; followed by 27-7 in 2014-2015; and 24-8 last year. The Vols are 11-4 so far this season.
John A. Logan College Athletic Director Greg Starrick said reaching 100 wins in less than five seasons in something to be proud of.
“Congratulations to Coach Smithpeters on reaching his 100th victory at JALC,” Starrick said. “I am also very happy for all former players and coaches who played a part in his 100 wins.”
