CARTERVILLE — It’s not often that you can take an exotic trip without the expensive airfare and hotel accommodations.

But during John A. Logan College’s “World Music and Food Day” you can.

“Everyone is invited,” said Toyin Fox, director of John A. Logan College’s Diversity and Inclusion Office. “We are bringing the world to Carterville.”

The event takes place Wednesday, April 19, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the College’s Skylight Lounge and O’Neil Auditorium.

Through a variety of activities, the event will showcase music and food from different parts of the world. Cultural artifacts and poster displays will also help those attending the event to understand the lives of others throughout the world.

In addition, professional and amateur musical groups will perform a variety of genres of world music, choral, and dance.

“This is a fun and unique family event,” Fox said.
