A: No! Individuals may sign up for a class only, if they wish. This would give them access to utilize the facility only for that specific class.

A: The pool is open for individual use during any of our posted “Open Swim Times”. These are the times when a member may use the lap pool or therapy pool at their own leisure. To see our Open Swim Times, visit here: https://www.jalc.edu/loganfitness/. During the remaining times through the week, the aquatic center is utilized for classes, swim lessons, birthday parties, pool maintenance, or other programming.

A: Unfortunately, we do not offer childcare at this time. This is on our list for future improvements to pursue.

A: In order to utilize the fitness center, you must be aged 15 or older. The same applies for using the pool during open swim times. However, we do offer a Family Swim Night every Friday evening from 5:45-8:30pm. During this time, individuals of all ages are welcome to use the pool. We also offer swim lessons and other youth classes/camps which children under the age of 15 may be enrolled in. Lastly, you may see children here on the weekends whenever the aquatic center is rented out for birthday parties.

A: Most of our classes run for 8-week periods. The Fall and Spring semesters are approximately 16 weeks long, so there are usually two 8-week blocks of classes within each of those semesters. The A classes represent the first 8-weeks and the B classes represent the second 8-weeks. Summer semester is shorter, so there is only one 8-week session. Therefore, if you miss your chance to sign up before a class begins, there will usually be a new section starting within the next 8 weeks or so.

In between each semester, there is usually about a 3-week period where classes are not held. These are called “intersession periods”. Some instructors will occasionally offer short class sections during the intersession periods.

Our classes are non-credit and considered recreational community education classes. Attendance is not required. If you do not enjoy the class, full refunds are allowed before the beginning of the 3rd class session(this does not include youth group swim lesson classes due to their small enrollment caps which are required for safety).

A: Yes, anyone may enroll in the SilverSneakers classes. Those with SilverSneakers eligibility may take these specific classes for free. Anyone without SilverSneakers eligibility would just pay the course fee.

A: We have many individuals who wish to utilize our facility strictly for membership access. We also have many individuals who choose to enroll only in classes. By keeping the fees separate for both classes and memberships, each person is fairly paying for only the services that they prefer to use. We also aim to maintain high-quality instructors who can be paid fairly for their time and expertise. By including free class enrollment with all memberships, we would be forced to either pay our instructors lower wages or significantly increase membership costs.

A: Yes! We offer both private swim lessons and group swim lessons. https://www.jalc.edu/loganfitness/swim-lessons/.

A: Parent and Tot classes start for children as young as 6 months old (a parent/guardian is required to be in the water with the child). Individual private swim lessons may begin at age 3. Group beginner swim lessons may begin at age 4.

A: Yes! We are almost always hiring lifeguards. We also occasionally have needs for fitness desk attendants, fitness instructors, aquatic instructors, personal trainers, swim lesson instructors, or full-time professionals. See more info or apply here: https://www.jalc.edu/loganfitness/employment/.
