CARTERVILLE – One of the more prolific scoring high school guards in Kentucky last year has accepted a scholarship offer to play this fall at John A. Logan College.

Jalen Perry transfers to Logan from Middle Tennessee State University, where he initially committed.

Perry played his high school ball for Ballard High School in Louisville and was a finalist for Mr. Basketball as a senior.

Listed as a 6-foot-2, 197-pound shooting guard, Perry averaged 21.5 points and 6.4 rebounds a game last year and helped to lead his team to a 32-3 overall record. He also shot 41.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 71.3 percent from the free-throw line.

“We’re excited to have Jalen,” said Logan head coach Kyle Smithpeters. “He’s a dynamic scorer with good size and is a good defender. He’s another nice piece to add to our roster and should make our opposition’s scouting reports a little tougher to break down.”

Perry said he likes what he has seen since transferring to Logan.

“It’s a nice basketball program here,” he said. “Logan had a good year last year and I think we can go pretty far this year, too.”

Perry described himself as a scoring guard.

“I can attack the basket, as well as shoot it,” he said. “I also like to defend. I can’t wait for the season to get started. I want to prove that I can take my game to the next level.”
