JALC Super Fan Wants to See More Students at Games
February 21, 2018
Alexis Craig had not missed a Redbird Basketball game as a student at West Frankfort High School. She had assumed that her basketball fandom would end at graduation, but then a chance meeting in a speech class at John A. Logan College changed everything.
“I told myself I was not going to get addicted to going to games, but then I had a couple of players in my speech class so I decided to go watch the Vols play,” said Craig. “That one game is all it took, I have been hooked on watching them play ever since.”
Craig even followed the team to an early season game at rival Vincennes. “I was already in Indiana for the weekend so I made the trip over to watch the team play.”
Craig believes more students should take advantage of the free admission to games and watch the exciting Vols play.
“Going to games gets you more involved and gives you more opportunities to meet people,” said Craig. “It is so much fun to watch them play, I plan to follow them all the way to the National Tournament that is if my mom will let me.”
The Vols take on Lake Land College Wednesday, February 21 in a Men’s and Women’s double header. The Women play at 5 and the Men at 7. The first 200 students with a JALC ID will receive a free Blue-Out T-Shirt and a drawing will be held at half-time of the Men’s game for a student to shoot a half-court shot for a fall tuition waiver.
