We want to recognize JALC student Cadet Skylar Moore for the outstanding way she continues to represent John A. Logan College through the SIU Air Force ROTC program. 🇺🇸💙
Last month, Skylar received several honors during the SIU Air Force ROTC Awards Ceremony, including the American Legion Scholastic Excellence Award, the Scottish Rite Award, and the Air Force ROTC Achievement Award, which is presented to fewer than 15% of the Cadet Corps.
These awards recognize Skylar’s academic excellence, leadership, patriotism, community involvem

We want to take a minute to recognize the John A. Logan College Upsilon Pi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, which ranks among the top 50 chapters out of more than 1,200 worldwide. 👏
The chapter earned international recognition at PTK Catalyst in Baltimore, receiving both the Distinguished College Project Award and Distinguished Chapter Award.
Chapter President Chandler Phemister and Vice President Jacie Nunley represented JALC at the Hallmark Awards Gala, where the honors were presented.
The chapter was recognized for increasing student participation in course evaluations through collaboration with campus leadership and departments across the college. Their Honors in Action project also partnered with ASL Professor Sheri Cook and the Marketing Department to create communication tools that help Chick-fil-A Marion IL employees better serve guests who are deaf or hard of hearing.
In addition, PTK advisor Adrienne F. Barkley Giffin, Ed.D., was elected to Phi Theta Kappa’s Board of Directors as the Regional Coordinator Representative.
