John A. Logan College has launched a new program with its in-district high schools and private schools to provide last-dollar scholarships to participating students.
We’re excited to introduce our first Student Ambassador Scholarship recipient for 2026-27, Alex Taylor of Crab Orchard CUSD #3!! 🎉
Alex is receiving a full ride scholarship from the JALC Foundation and will be a wonderful addition to our Student Ambassador team!
Congrats and welcome to the Logan family, Alex! 💙
As we wrap up Career and Technical Education Month, we’re proud to share the voices of our CTE Spotlight Students at John A. Logan College who are pushing through challenges, showing up for their families, and finishing what they started.
Their stories are proof that perseverance pays off and that it’s never too late to build the life you want.
👏 Keep pushing, Vols. It’s worth it.
Build your future with your hands at JALC.

⚡ Big upgrade for our Biomedical Electronics Technology students!
Our classes recently received two ventilators from the early 2000s donated by Hamilton Memorial Hospital, replacing equipment that dated back to 1967!
Shoutout to Clintech, who services the ventilators, for helping make this connection happen.
Students are now training on real-world equipment they’ll actually see in the field after graduation. 🙌
Pictured with the two recently donated ventilators is our new Electronics Instructor Nate Harte, who feels blessed to continue the program in the role once held by his former teacher George Bricker, making this a meaningful full-circle moment. 💙

CTE Month Student Spotlight: Sean Murphy
After serving in the Navy as an avionics technician, Sean Murphy returned to John A. Logan College to turn his passion for hands-on technical work into a career in HVAC.
Now finishing the HVAC program this summer, Sean credits CTE training, supportive instructors, and real-world shop experience for building his confidence and job-ready skills. He plans to work locally in residential HVAC and hopes to one day return to teach and mentor future students.

🎶 Thank you to Corey Harris for a powerful Black History Month Social Science Speaker Series event, Blues the World Forgot.
Corey delivered a moving history lesson on the roots of the blues and closed with a live performance that brought that history to life in front of a large crowd in O’Neil Auditorium Monday.
As he shared, this music “arose like a rose from the concrete,” born from struggle, shaped by culture, and carried forward through generations.
Brought to you by the Department of Communications, Humanities, and Social Sciences at JALC.
