JALC’s Tanner Awarded the Illinois Business Education Association Distinguished Service Award

John A. Logan College Business Professor Dr. Jason Tanner has been awarded the Illinois Business Education Association Distinguished Service Award.  To be eligible for the award, an educator must have shown exceptional service to the Illinois Business Education Association and an ongoing commitment to business education, along with a minimum of 15 years of classroom teaching experience.

Throughout his 18-year teaching career at the College, Dr. Tanner has received numerous awards. In addition to his most recent achievement, Tanner has also received: the Illinois Business Education Association Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year Award; the Illinois Business Education Association Outstanding New Professional Award; the Illinois Business Education Association Outstanding Independent Research Award; the North Central Business Education Association Outstanding Contributions to Business Education by a Postsecondary Business Teacher Award; the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education Postsecondary Teacher of the Year Award; the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education Outstanding New CTE Teacher Award; and the Southern Illinois Business Education Association Teacher of the Year Award.

According to Dr. Tanner, being recognized by his peers throughout the state is a humbling honor.

“I am humbled to be honored by my peers.  There are many outstanding business educators throughout the state of Illinois; it is very rewarding to receive this recognition.”

Provost Dr. Melanie Pecord believes that Dr. Tanner continues to be recognized by his peers because of his dedication to his students and business education.

“Jason is first and foremost an outstanding educator that strives to help his students achieve their best,” said Pecord. “Jason stands out because he is constantly striving for ways to connect with students by continuously improving his curriculum and teaching methods.”

Dr. Tanner currently teaches Introduction to Business, Business Communications, and Computer Applications for Business courses at John A. Logan College.
