JALC Nursing Students to Host Extra Special Eggstravaganza Celebrating Neuro-Diversity

Published on April 6, 2022

An event led by John A. Logan College Nursing students will celebrate the neuro-diversity of kids. The Extra Special Eggstravaganza will be held on Saturday, April 9, from 12 PM to 2 PM. Registration begins at Noon at the West Entrance by the Bell Tower on the JALC campus, and the event will start at 1 PM.

According to Assistant Professor Dr. Heather Hampson, the event will have several different types of egg hunt rooms specially designed for children with different needs.

“Children who might have a hearing, vision, or ambulatory difficulties will have a room,” said Hampson. “We will also have a sensory room for children with autism to explore, a quiet room with low-level stimuli, and a room designed for older/mature individuals with cognitive differences.”

Hampson also added that a general egg hunt room for neuro-typical siblings and other children would also be available.

“There will be bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo, music, food, and prizes, with some special appearances by Mr. Bunny, Princesses, and Super Heroes,” said Hampson. “Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy.”
