CTE Construction and Renovation:

This project will be bid on in the fall, with construction slated to begin in early 2025 and be completed by July 2026. The EDA awarded the College $4.2 million, with the College contributing matching funds. The project includes a new 10,000-square-foot welding and CNC manufacturing building. This will provide a large state-of-the-art lab space for each program. There will also be renovations of 10,000 square feet to the existing H building for the HVAC program and 30,000 square feet to the existing vocational building with a 6,000 square feet addition. This work will be for both automotive services and collision programs.

West Lobby Expansion:

This project will be bid at the end of October, and construction will begin in early 2025. The $6 million project is funded through the State of Illinois. In addition to the complete renovation, an additional 6,000 square feet will be added to the entrance. The addition will consist of Community education offices, a General Information Office, Foundation Offices, a Board Room, gathering spaces for students and events, and a larger lobby for athletics.

“While these improvements will bring some short-term inconveniences, we are excited about the long-term benefits for our students and the community,” said Dr. Kirk Overstreet, President of John A. Logan College. “Our goal is to create a modern and engaging environment that supports academic excellence and student success.”

The college’s website will offer detailed information and updates throughout the construction period for those interested in tracking the developments or learning more about the construction plans.

As John A. Logan College embarks on this transformative journey, the community’s patience and support are greatly appreciated. With these enhancements, the college aims to offer an enriched educational experience and a more vibrant campus atmosphere for years to come.
