John A. Logan College proudly announces that award-winning photojournalist Nicole Hester will speak on campus on Monday, October 21, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Tarvin Room in the JALC Conference Center. Hester, a staff photographer for the Tennessean and based in Nashville, Tennessee, has garnered national attention for her impactful work, including being named a finalist for the 2024 Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Photography.
Hester’s poignant photograph of a young girl being evacuated after the tragic Covenant School shooting in Nashville has captured the hearts of many and earned a coveted spot on Time Magazine’s Top 10 Photos of 2023. Her commitment to telling compelling stories through her lens exemplifies the powerful role of journalism in today’s world.
This event is free and open to the public. Attendees will hear Hester discuss her experiences and the stories behind her photographs. Join us for this inspiring conversation and a chance to learn from one of the industry’s leading voices in photojournalism.
