Published on January 9, 2025

The event is to take place on January 21, 2025, at the John A. Logan College Conference Center.

John A. Logan College will host its second annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the John A. Logan College Conference Center. The breakfast will be held the day after MLK Day to allow students to participate in community events on January 20.

“As a commuter campus, we want to ensure that our students have the opportunity to engage in events within their communities on MLK Day while still being able to attend this important event on a day when classes are in session,” said Dr. Kirk Overstreet, President of John A. Logan College.

The breakfast will feature a keynote address by Dr. Glenn Poshard, former United States Congressman and current John A. Logan College Board of Trustees member, alongside LaShonda Hubert, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois. The event will also include musical selections and readings performed by John A. Logan College students, celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The event is free and open to the public, allowing the community to come together and reflect on Dr. King’s contributions to civil rights and social justice.
