General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) Credential
The GECC credential will be awarded to students who complete a minimum of 37 credit hours of general education coursework which satisfies the general education core curriculum of the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) at a college or university. This credential is a package designed to help students facilitate transfer to a participating four-year college or university. The GECC credential can be completed on its own or along with a transfer associate degree. All required coursework for the credential can be found in the Associate in Arts degree. The College will not award the GECC credential if a student has already received a transfer associate degree. Though this is not a degree or certificate, the credential will be notated on a student’s transcript when all requirements have been met. Students do not need to apply. The credential will be automatically awarded to a student once the College verifies all requirements have been met.
