Student Ambassador Program
WHAT IS THE STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM?
The Student Ambassador Program at John A. Logan College (JALC) is a leadership opportunity for students who are dedicated to serving and representing JALC. Student Ambassadors provide campus tours, assist in enhancing prospective students’ knowledge about the various student support services and programs offered at JALC, serve as JALC representatives within the campus community, and perform duties at various high school and community events.
WHAT DOES A STUDENT AMBASSADOR DO?
- Develop an expanded knowledge of John A. Logan College
- Conduct campus tours for new students, school groups, and other guests
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of New Student Orientation Days
- Assist with duties and tasks related to events put on by various John A. Logan College departments
- Work with diverse populations and provide tips on being a successful student
- Assist with a variety of office-related tasks
- Attend monthly meetings and required training through the VOL 101 Class
- All other duties as assigned
BENEFITS OF BECOMING A STUDENT AMBASSADOR
- Receive 13 credit hour tuition waiver for fall and spring semesters. (pending other scholarships)
- Develop a wide range of transferable skills to benefit both personal and professional growth
- Gain experience through community involvement and service projects
- Gain leadership skills to enhance a resume as well as university and scholarship applications
- Create relationships that lead to letters of recommendation
- Get further connected to JALC and build relationships with peers
- Help students and the community learn more about JALC
- Receive an official John A. Logan College polo
- The Student Ambassador who has shown the most outstanding efforts in promotion, recruitment, and service will be recognized at Honors Night for Outstanding Student Ambassador of the Year.
HOW TO BECOME A STUDENT AMBASSADOR
Qualifications to Apply and Maintain Scholarship
- Enrollment at John A. Logan College for the application year
- Maintain 13 credit hours each semester (fall and spring)
- Maintain a semester and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75
- Maintain good academic and disciplinary standing with the college
- Must complete a total of 75 volunteer hours in the fall semesters and 25 volunteer hours in the spring semesters
- Retain the position for the two-year commitment period
- Demonstrate strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline, and enthusiasm

- Complete the Student Ambassador Application
- Submit the application by February 1 for the upcoming academic year
- Must be selected for an interview based on your application
