Heating and Air Conditioning

Certificate of Achievement

This program prepares students for careers in the heating and air conditioning industry. The curriculum provides theory as well as sufficient laboratory experience to prepare graduates for immediate employment. Students will be trained for competency in installing, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining all types of environmental control equipment. The graduate will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

What You Can Do

Our degree and certificate programs prepare students for positions such as technicians and mechanics, installers, stationary operators, managers, contractors, and HVAC business owners.

John A Logan offers a seamless transfer to the next step in your educational journey for many of our programs. Our academic programs prepare you for what you will need to transfer to a four-year college or university. When you have selected the college where you would like to transfer, it is important to review their specific admission and course requirements. John A Logan College has many articulation agreements with various colleges.

Transfer Planning – John A. Logan College (jalc.edu)

  1. The goal is for completers to attain their EPA license for refrigerant handling and safety, as well as many skill specific disciplines in the HVAC field.
  2. This program follows EPA and OSHA safety standards as outlined by the industry.
  3. Each student is assessed with a hands-on final exam and competency exam through each specific discipline and each specific course.
  4. The students throughout the program, are required to write invoices for repairs and read and analyze circuit drawings and schematics used for troubleshooting electrical systems.
  5. In the field of HVAC, systems are always evolving and becoming more energy efficient. In this program, we focus in each course on sustainability practices and how they are used in the HVAC industry
