Vogler Ford Becomes First Corporate Member of Logan Fitness

Published on March 3, 2020

Soon the engines will not be the only things running smoothly at Vogler Ford in Carbondale.  Recently, Owner and President of Vogler Motors Dennis Rathjen was approached by John A. Logan Athletic Director Greg Starrick about taking advantage of a new program at Logan Fitness designed to help local businesses and their employees perform in peak condition.

According to Rathjen, it was an easy decision.

“We just signed on with a new insurance agency and there are benefits to our employees when they are healthier, and I think there are benefits to the business when employees are healthier as well,” said Rathjen.

Logan Fitness Director Bradley Griffith agrees that there are definite benefits to a healthier workforce.

“It is estimated that 25-30 percent of a companies’ medical costs each year are spent on employees with excess, often preventable health risks,” said Griffith. “Companies that participate in programs like the one we are offering, often see increased morale, decreased absenteeism, and reduced health care cost.”

To be eligible for a Corporate Membership a business must have a minimum of six employees registered during a given time period.  Memberships are divided into six-month periods. The first period is from January 1 to June 30 and the second is July 1 to December 31. Cost is $100 per person per six-month period.  The corporate membership rate equals a savings of $100 per individual, as the standard community membership rate is $300 per year.

Janette Glenn a recent Vogler Ford retiree has been using the facility and is excited about the opportunity.

“I love it because it is so clean and everyone is super friendly.  I was going to join something else, and I found out that Dennis (Rathjen) was going to do this I thought oh my goodness that is awesome,” said Glenn. “This is a little longer drive for me, but with the opportunity and how nice the facility is it is definitely worth it.”
