Accounting and Business Instructor (Full-Time, Tenure Track)

Description:

John A. Logan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Accounting and Business to begin Fall 2025. The College, a community college located in southern Illinois, is dedicated to enriching lives through learning and community engagement and is committed to providing a supportive learning environment that fosters close collaboration between students and faculty members. With small class sizes, students benefit from personalized instruction and ample opportunities for mentoring, academic advising, and other forms of academic guidance from dedicated faculty members.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education Required: Master’s degree in Accounting with 18 graduate hours in Business or Master’s degree in Business with 18 graduate hours in Accounting

 Experience Required: 2,000 hours of work experience in the field of Accounting

Education Preferred: Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or similar

Experience Preferred: Experience in post-secondary teaching, particularly in a community college, experience in teaching in multiple instructional modalities (e.g., online, hybrid, hyflex), experience in curriculum development.

Essential Functions & Position Duties

  • Foster and promote a collegial atmosphere, prioritizing student learning and success.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in various Accounting courses, including Business Accounting, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Tax Accounting, Business Math, Legal and Social Environment of Business, Customer Service, and other relevant subjects.
  • Develop new courses that cater to the needs of the diverse student population and adapt to the evolving educational landscape.
  • Fulfill the academic year’s contractual obligations for fall and spring semesters.
  • Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and hold eight office hours per week for student consultation during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester.
  • Be available to teach classes during the day, evenings, and/or weekends as per the schedule of classes.
  • Full-time faculty members are provided with private offices and have access to excellent support services.

Non-essential functions of the position

Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.
