Director of Campus Safety and Chief of Campus Police

We are seeking a highly qualified Director of Campus Safety and Chief of Campus Police to lead our campus safety team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our campus community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors. They will oversee all aspects of campus safety, including emergency preparedness, crime prevention, and incident response. The Director of Campus Safety and Chief of Campus Police will work closely with other campus departments and local law enforcement agencies to maintain a safe and secure campus environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public safety, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in campus safety or law enforcement
  • Experience in emergency preparedness and incident response
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in criminal justice, public safety, or a related field
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • Certification in emergency management or related field
  • Experience with Clery Act compliance
  • Experience with Title IX compliance

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement campus safety policies and procedures
  • Lead and manage the campus safety team
  • Collaborate with other campus departments to ensure a coordinated approach to campus safety
  • Maintain a strong relationship with local law enforcement agencies
  • Provide training and education to the campus community on safety and security issues
  • Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet

Skills:
The Director of Campus Safety and Chief of Campus Police must have strong leadership and management skills to effectively lead the campus safety team. They must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with other campus departments and local law enforcement agencies. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of emergency preparedness and incident response to develop and implement campus safety policies and procedures. Additionally, they will use their expertise in Clery Act and Title IX compliance to ensure the campus is in compliance with all relevant regulations. Finally, the Director of Campus Safety and Chief of Campus Police will use their training and education skills to provide the campus community with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe and secure.

Non-essential functions of the position:
Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.

Hours: 7:00 – 3:30, Monday – Friday

Salary range: $75,000 – $98,050
