Higher Education and Workforce Development Navigator for Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R)

Description:

Higher Education and Workforce Development Navigator for Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) will support early childhood professionals with their professional development, understand the needs of the workforce, collaborate with higher education institutions to ensure student success, and partner with the Quality team to support quality improvement efforts.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education or other education-related field.

Experience: Two years of work experience in early childhood care and education, adult education, or higher education. Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.

Essential Functions & Position Duties
• Conduct regular outreach, recruitment, and follow up activities to current workforce members and those potential workforce members to understand their interest in obtaining additional degrees, credentials, and licenses and discuss professional development and higher education opportunities. This includes but is not limited to the following:
i. Plan and facilitate regional information sessions (virtual and/or in person) to be held at a minimum of two sessions per quarter.
ii. Conduct periodic surveys of workforce members
iii. Maintain lists of potential and interested workforce members
• Discuss with potential and current members of the workforce their career and professional goals in the field of ECE.
• Support potential and current members of the workforce with available funding and professional development opportunities in the state.
• Ongoing, work with ECE department/faculty at higher education institutions to understand the programs they offer and learn which programs are best suited to specific student needs. On a quarterly basis, meet with, at a minimum, four partners at the higher education institutions. Meetings should include but are not limited to the following: identify program changes, opportunities, potential scholarships, etc.
• Provide Technical Assistance Supports for Individuals seeking a Child Development Associate.
Faculty
• Work with INCCRRA Professional Development Advisors to analyze transcripts and training records of workforce members and provide counseling on appropriate pathways in the early childhood field and connection to specific programs.
• Work with other staff to support programs applying for state grants.
• Travel within the designated SDA.
• Participate in required training programs.

Non-essential functions of the position
Serving on state and local committees and attending state workdays. Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.

Hours: 40 hrs. per week, can vary to meet needs of public, some Saturdays and weeknights
