Hospitality Management Instructor, Full-time, Tenure Track – Fall 2024

John A. Logan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Hospitality Management to begin Fall 2024. The College is committed to providing a supportive learning environment that fosters close collaboration between students and faculty members. With small class sizes, students benefit from personalized instruction and ample opportunities for mentoring, academic advising, and other forms of academic guidance from dedicated faculty members.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Administration, or closely related field or discipline

Experience Required: The candidate must have three to five years of work experience in the hospitality industry, with a strong background in hotel operations, food and beverage management, or event planning

Education Preferred: Master’s degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Administration, or closely related field or discipline

Experience Preferred: Five or more years of work experience in the hospitality industry, with a strong background in hotel operations, food and beverage management, or event planning; prior community college teaching experience

Essential Functions & Position Duties

Foster and promote a collegial atmosphere, prioritizing student learning and success. Deliver high-quality instruction in various hospitality management courses, including front office operations, sanitation, hospitality marketing, and other relevant subjects. Develop new courses that cater to the needs of the diverse student population and adapt to the evolving educational landscape. Fulfill contractual obligations covering the academic year, consisting of fall and spring semesters. Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and hold eight office hours per week for student consultation during each of fall and spring semesters. Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester. Be available to teach classes during the day, evenings, and/or weekends as per the schedule of classes. Full-time faculty members are provided with private offices and have access to excellent support services. Non-essential functions of the position

Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.
